Yamaha Digital Pianos - YDP223, YDP323, YDP213

Yamaha Digital Piano Series: Part I

Digital Keyboard Models Yamaha YDP223, YDP323, and YDP213

Most people who are players, and who are familiar with Yamaha electronic keyboard products, know about the quality and sound of Yamaha digital pianos. In the past few years, the cost of owning a digital piano with weighted action has plummeted to an all-time low.

In the not too distant past, say 5-6 years ago, the least expensive Yamaha digital piano with weighted action cost about $2000.00, and it did not have the quality of sound and features of today's electronic keyboards. Today's models are feature rich, and have a much improved sound and keyboard action. Let's begin with the Yamaha YDP223.

Yamaha YDP223 Digital Piano
The YDP223 has been around awhile, but it is still one of the most popular weighted key digital pianos we sell. It combines great sound and features in an attractive cabinet that will add a touch of elegance to any home or church. The YDP223 features an 88 Key Graded Hammer Action keyboard. Graded Hammer Action emulates the action of a grand piano - heavier in the bass and lighter in the treble areas of the keyboard (on a grand piano, the hammers get thicker as you move from treble to bass). The earlier digital piano models certainly didn't have this feature!

The YDP223 has 14 high quality voices for you to choose from. These include 2 Grand Pianos, 2 Electric Pianos, 2 Church Organs, 2 Harpsichords, Vibraphone, 2 Strings, Jazz Organ, Choir and Guitar. And you can combine two sounds at once, like Piano and Strings. For your learning and listening pleasure, you'll find 50 built-in songs. There's even a songbook included too. And finally, there is a matching padded bench.

The Yamaha YDP series of digital pianos also includes two other models, the YDP323 and the YDP213. They are less feature rich, and do not have the sound of the YDP223, but they offer a lot of bang for the buck!

Yamaha YDP323
The Yamaha YDP323 digital keyboard uses Yamaha's renowned AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) tone generation technology and Stereo Sampling. When you play a key on the YDP323, what you hear is a "sample", or digital recording, of the same note on a high quality concert grand piano. This exceptionally realistic, natural acoustic sound makes the Yamaha YDP323 ideal for anyone wanting true piano tone.

Like the YDP223, the YDP323 has three pedals - damper, soft, and sostenuto - to let you perform more expressively. It too has a built-in digital recorder, variable touch sensitivity, dual mode, and digital reverb. Through the end of the year, Yamaha is offering a $100 mail in rebate. For additional information, click this link: Yamaha YDP323.

Yamaha YDP213
The YDP213 is the most affordable digital piano in the Yamaha YDP series. It has the expressive GHS (Graded Hammer Standard effect) keyboard. Unlike conventional digital piano keyboards that use springs or dampers to simulate piano feel, the GHS keyboard uses weights and mechanical linkages to provide a new level of realism. You'll notice the difference it makes as soon as you start playing.

The keyboard on the Yamaha YDP213 even has variable touch sensitivity. Select the hard, medium or soft setting to match your playing style or finger strength. Turn off sensitivity for a fixed response setting, ideal when playing the organ. Other features include 64 note polyphony, 6 voices, dual voice mode, metronome, and digital reverb. Matching bench included, too.

So, there you have it. Three very good digital pianos with good looks to match their quality sound (don't forget the matching bench that's included free), and there's a price point for almost any budget.

Yamaha Portable Keyboards

Many people know about Yamaha portable keyboards and guitars today, but it wasn't always so in the past. Yamaha began over one hundred years ago when a young entrepreneur named Torakusu Yamaha set out to craft a high-quality reed organ. Before long, the company he founded had not only gone on to manufacture Japan's first piano, it had also gained recognition abroad: In 1904, a Yamaha piano and organ were awarded an Honorary Grand Prize at the St. Louis World's Fair.

From these auspicious beginnings, Yamaha grew to become one of the best-loved manufacturers of musical instruments in the world. And as it grew, the company capitalized on a unique heritage of artisanship and technological know-how to diversify into an astoundingly wide range of products and services.

Today, Yamaha is a leader in businesses ranging from musical instruments and audio & video products to information technology products, new media services, home furnishings, auto components, specialty metals, music education and resort facilities. Yet, true to their musical origins, no matter what business they take on -- or what country they do business in -- they seek to remain perfectly attuned to a set of common values that define the World of Yamaha.
